MARDI GRAS ain’t Great

It is hard for those who haven’t witnessed it to understand just how disruptive Mardi Gras is even for those of us in little old Montegut.

Because of crowds and some rowdiness we have to suspend Sunday evening and Tuesday Bible Class on Mardi Gras weekend and on Mardi Gras day (Tuesday).  Here are some pictures of what the crowds look like.

That is our new fence and the store next to our building. The crowds are beginning to form.

The street along Price’s Market heading down to the Middle School is filling up.  This picture was taken three (3) hours before the parade.

That “MONTEGUT” sign is 1/2 mile north (up the baya) from the building and the cars  are still coming.

1006

They fill up HWY 55 on both sides. You can just see the building on the left way down there.  That is the lift bridge just past the building down on the right.

This is the front of Price’s Market.  Notice how the crowd has already formed and foot traffic/people keeps going for about 3/4 of mile all the way through Montegut.  The cars are just as deep from the Post Office on down the baya.

Did you count the police presence?

REMEMBER NOW, this is just in Montegut for a 12 “float” parade. What you don’t see are the 4 or 5 sherrif’s cars in the actual parade.

See I really don’t need to exaggerate :)
